All these institutions work according to the Serbian system.
The director of the Office for Kosovo in Serbia's Government, Petar Petkovovic, has estimated that Pristina has “contained the kidnapping of land” in the Northern Mitrovica municipality.
It through a communique has said that Kosovo authorities, without notice, public discussion or consultation with citizens, have shared a large parcel of municipal land where Serbia's institutions are located, to create a new “police reinforcement” in Serbian areas.
He has announced that he has notified international officials and that he expects their reaction.
Petkov has added that in municipal companies “Standard” and “The pipeline”, placed on that parcel, are employed by more than 300 people, while the number of employees in the parallel municipality is evidently higher.
Petkovic has said it is also an attempt to trigger a new crisis in northern Kosovo and thus avoid Pristina's obligations in establishing the Association of Serb majority municipalities, but also to prevent the mayor's dismissal process initiated by local Serbs.
Uglanin: No law violated
North Mitrovica municipality Assembly Chairman Nedzat Uglanin confirmed to Radio Europe that the parcel given to the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs has several objects where Serbian institutions are located, as well as a sports hall, which is built with EU funds.
He said the MPB was given “only to a parcel”, but specifically could not answer what would happen to existing objects.
Uglan said that according to his knowledge, in the above-mentioned parcel is scheduled to build a police station, because this current one is located in an facility belonging to the Trepca mine.
Under the law we voted for land use, objects are not mentioned at all. This is o abuses allegedly voted for the collapse of” objects, he said.
According to him, no law was violated with the fact that the parcel was given to him. The MPB without public hearing and added that neither the former Municipal Assembly from the ranks of the Serbian List has held public hearings during making decisions.
“There has been no debate or public discussion on the construction financed by Serbia, especially on the residential facility at the Bosniaks' Table, but it was a imposed solution”, he said.
Serbian List Reaction
Against the local authorities' decision in North Mitrovica has reacted to the Serb List, the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo, said the Northern Mitrovica Municipal Assembly decision is “illegal”.
Through an announcement, from this party said the decision was made without any consultation or public discussion in which citizens would have to participate, adding that the purpose of this decision is “the deterioration of the situation on the ground and pressure on the Serbian population”.
Because of this decision, the Serbian List will seek an emergency meeting with representatives of the international community, above all ambassadors The QUINT and the European Union will require urgent response to the regime's goal in Pristina to cause new tensions and the threat of peace and security of our citizens, said the Serbian List.
Meanwhile, Serbian Democracy party leader Aleksandar Arsenijevic wrote on Facebook that there is a sports hall in this parcel.
The North Mitrovica Community Assembly currently consists mainly of advisers from the Albanian community, because Serbs boycotted local elections in the north that were held in April. Also, this majority Serb municipality is led by President Erden Attic, who comes from the party, the Vetevendosje Movement, which leads with the Government of Kosovo.
Arsenijevic has compared this decision of the Northern Mitrovica Municipal Assembly to “ccupation” and has warned that he will follow “all democratic and legal procedures to undo this illegal decision”.
In late May, tensions rose in the four municipalities in northern Kosovo ʹ inhabited by Serb majority after the new Albanian mayors started working. A escalation of violence occurred in Zvecan, where protesters clashed with NATO peacekeeping mission members in Kosovo, KFOR. Dozens of KFOR soldiers were injured in the May 29th protest.
Tensions culminated on September 24th, when an armed group of Serbs attacked the Kosovo Police, killing a police officer. During the clashes that followed in Zvecan Banjska, three Serb attackers were also killed.
The international community strongly condemned the attack and demanded that those responsible be brought to justice.
The responsibility for the attack was taken by Milan Radojic, former deputy chairman of the Serbian List, the main party of Serbs in Kosovo who enjoys the support of official Belgrade.
Kosovo blames the state of Serbia for the attack, but Belgrade denies involvement. / REL/
