The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council has reacted to today's statements by Kosovo Prime Minister, under which the State Prosecutor has not filed numerous charges for the attack on Zvecan Banjska.
In this case, the KKP has stressed that, the Special Prosecutor, in accordance with the law, operates as an independent institution and co-operates with all institutions of the rule of law on collecting evidence.
“also, the Council, is clearly stated once again that this competent prosecutor is always available to share the information needed with the public and other law enforcement agencies, always in view of the principles of the protection of information and current investigations” -- said among others. Consequently, the KKP calls on the Kosovo government to allow all organs to act in accordance with valid laws and authorisations in the country, and that these statements call the prime minister's recycled public appearances that have biased restraint against the State Prosecutor's institution and are based on incorrect, unrecognizable, and on frequent prejudices and speculations, which are being made in any case that he and his cabinet members are given the opportunity. Through this public reaction, the KKP called on Prime Minister Kurti to stay away from the institutions of the prosecutorial system and not intervene in independent constitutional institutions, such as the State Prosecutor, to try to publicly lynch everything related to the state prosecutor's institution and the work of prosecutors and state prosecutors, because such as these constitute inlerable violations in the independent work of prosecutorial institutions. Therefore, the KKP, ultimately, condemns the misuse of free speech on the part of Prime Minister Kurti, stating that the prosecutorial system will not be affected by these statements coming from high political circles, but as an independent and impartial institution in exercising its mandate will go to the end any case that is at the expense of Kosovo citizens. ”- writes among other things in the official response.
