On 8 September, the General Assembly of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) voted the candidacy Pristina 2030, with 55 votes to, eight against and three invalid votes, during a meeting in the Greek town of Heraklion.
26 countries from three continents are participating in the Mediterranean Games. From Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia. From Asia: Lebanon, Syria and Turkey. From Europe: Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, northern Macedonia, Poland, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia and Spain.
Kosovo was admitted to the ICG in 2015 and participated for the first time in Tarragona 2018 in Spain.
The sports programme features about 24 sports, with more than three thousand athletes participating. The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports announced that the event will have expansion throughout state territory with focus in seven main municipalities, as well as on the Albanian coast in Durres.
In two participation in these games, Kosovo managed to win 10, nine of them in the Judo sport, and one in boxing.
