On December 9th, the Kosovo Police's elite unit has held protests in front of the government building.
Their discontent has been linked to classification as individual entities and involvement in the expert list, risking being determined to 50 percent of the basic wage, and having additionals for specific working conditions.
This protest has been the second consecutive for the unit, as the first was held on November 1st.
The December 9th protest was joined by the Police Union.
Whether they received any invitation from the country's prime minister and what measures will be taken after the protest, Imer Zeqiri, the head of the Police Union, told Front Online. Zeqiri said no invitation has been accepted by the government. He says he wants a meeting with Kurt. Zeqiri has asked the current government to reflect on the police unit.
The government was supposed to respond positively. I don't want to lose hope in them. But he had to call us to talk to us as a union, after the protests we didn't have an invitation. Our union may address a written request for a meeting with Government”, he said.
According to Zeqiri, the elite unit's dissatisfaction should be resolved with dialogue, not protests.
He says that if you don't change the approach of government, only this unit will be present in protest.
The government must reflect and solve problems at the table, not on the street, and make up some of the requirements to proceed with dialogue, not protest. But if this continues the protest will only be with the FIT unit and we will support”, Zeqiri stressed.
The head of the Police Union said lowering risk surplus has also affected salaries.
The extension ban, according to Zeqiri, should not have happened.
The subx0> is down for wage risk risks, the discount is also a salary discount, we have a raise in the base salary, but when the evacuation for additions comes, some additional additions are returned, as have been or with a slight raise. In another category, we have a pay discount from the top major degrees. The additional risk ban should not have happened”, he says of Front Online.
A protest on November 7th was warned by the elite police unit of Kosovo, but police announced that the protest was temporarily suspended that day. This decision came after Prime Minister Kurti promised them an official meeting to discuss their demands and find a solution.
Their meeting was held but without any results.
