About 100 northern Serb citizens, mostly businesspeople, have protested today in northern Mitrovica against the ban on imports of goods from Serbia to Kosovo and their seizure.

They have also launched a petition through which they require access to the willing organs again and without obstruction of these goods in Kosovo.

Dusan Gashiq, who spoke on behalf of the protesters, has told reporters that they want such shares of the sequencing of Serbian goods to be cut off and the situation returned as before June, when the Kosovo government has made a decision on blockades to Serbian-born goods in Kosovo.

We want unilateral shares of seized goods to be interrupted. We want the situation back like before June when such a decision has been made about goods of Serbian origin... I'd like to point out that such shares don't even like citizens south of Ibër. Prior to that, I am referring to Albanians”, Gashic said among other things, citing one of the officials' statements from the Kosovo Economic Oda, according to which he said Kosovo has lost hundreds of millions of euros so far from this blockade, Kosovas reported.

The protest has lasted about an hour and no incidents have been marked, while in a sign of solidification with the protest, all shops in northern Mitrovica have been closed between 12:00 and 2:00.

The Kosovo government on 14 June has banned the entrance of trucks with Serbian license plates and the import of goods originating from Serbia for reasons “security”. The decision was a response to the arrest of three Kosovo police officers by Serbian forces, who have since been released to defend themselves. Meanwhile, the entrance to Serbia's license trucks is allowed, but not even the circulation of Serbian goods.

According to data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency in June 2022, Kosovo has imported goods from Serbia worth nearly 34m euros.

This year's June data, compared to the same period last year, shows the decline in import of Serbian products, the value of goods imported from Serbia, respectively, is about 13m euros.
