Qalaj said the First Intervention Unit (FIT) of the Kosovo Police with this law receives 74 euros less neto wages, until she added that even the new officers, cadets and many other entities have pay cuts with this law.
Qalaj said there are pay hikes in several categories but which, according to him, are very small.
The “polians are damaged with the new Law of Salaries because they receive less salaries. It is true to raise for several small categories, but even for them 18 euros, 20 euros have no higher pay raise. While the First Intervention Unit, which is otherwise called FIT, has 74 euros less damaged, and I think the new decision on risk additions has damaged Kosovo Police even more because they all have reductions of risk additions, young police officers, kadets, all”, Qalaj said in Tev1.
Asked whether NJSI police officers who protested twice in front of the Kosovo government were right, Qalaj said they are asking for basic conditions.
There's a scene none of us would like to see. We're not used to seeing police go out on the street protesting, much more so when they have requests related to their equipment, their pay, their risk additions, and other demands that are legitimate and relevant to the Kosovo Police, and on the other hand we have a government barricaded at least by a post that the interior minister has made that is unacceptable. It would be good to sit down and find a good solution for PK all units because there is not only one unit here but all”, Qalaj said.
