Prime Minister Albin Kurti has come up with a video on International Anti-Corruption Day, where there was criticism of governance until he received the mandate and praise for the government's work in fighting corruption.

Kurti said corruption has forwarded Kosovo society for years, “as a consequence of ill-governance, ugly profiting mentality and the unscathed idea that considers the state an ark for personal wealth and not for collective prosperity”.

Meanwhile, he pledged he would continue fighting corruption, while he said he is being hampered by the opposition by the submission of laws to the Constitutional Court.

Full statement:

Two years and nine months ago, we started the common journey towards good governance, fighting corruption and establishing order and law.

Two years and nine months ago, when the hope of a better future was reinvigorated, we have joined forces to promote the culture of integrity in institutions, improve well-being, strengthen the woman's position in society and preserve public money from misuse.

We have pledged wise investments and development projects. We've increased the budget by 35%, reduced damages to minimum, and reported the crime and corruption we found.

Today I address all of you indiscriminately to address a matter of great importance that has forwarded to our society for years as a result of ill-governance, ugly profitive mentality, and a narrow idea that views the state as a chest for personal wealth, not collective well-being. So: corruption.

Today, on the international day of corruption, I want to stress the importance of fighting corruption, commemorating the consequences we have all felt for years that resulted in extreme poverty in the benefits of enriching individuals and interest groups.

From bribery to nepotism, we've witnessed all of this corrosive effect on public finance management, damage to quality of services, economic recession, and to the loss of trust in state institutions.

The oligarchs love the state as commercial ships, not as democratic republics -- those who have the greatest longing determine the course of the ship. With our progressive governance, independent Kosovo is a democratic republic, not a commercial ship.

Financial bleeding, lack of institutional services, mismanagement of public money and crime within state and government bodies are over. With dedication, putting dignity above everything, we have begun fighting corruption from within to extend it over every segment of our society.

At the beginning of government, we have been established for 20 countries in Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index. Over 11,000 police operations against economic crime and corruption have been conducted under our leadership. Over 4,000 people have been detained, out of whom over 300 state officials. We destroyed 103 criminal groups and confiscated over 2 tonnes of narcotics.

We are the most developed state in the region for reforms initiated in order to implement the rule of law, according to World Justice Project. With the launch of the property process in the judicial and prosecutorial system, we have testified that we want merit punishment for state officials, whether they are judges or prosecutors who don't serve citizens, and that criminals send them to defend themselves against freedom, while independent professional officials hold them in custody without ever setting up charges. We want promotions for those who serve the state of profession and bans on those who benefit at the expense of citizens and businesses.

We want independent judges, effective prosecutors and judges acting in wisdom and wisdom. That's what we're going to do in the justice system, supported by the laws we sent to the Assembly. In one year alone, we have adopted over 80 laws, the deadline never reached by any advance government.

Dear citizens,

Justice may be delayed but never prohibited. Opposition parties have sent to the Constitutional Court any law imposing inevitable reform in the system, as if there is no Parliamentary Commission for Legislation at all. With hard work and sweeping processes we have drafted the Law for the Bureau for Confiscating Unjustified Riches. This Law will affect anyone who has benefited at your expense and has enriched your pockets to the expense of the Republic. This Law will be made and will be carried out as thought and worked. Delaying reform through banal complaints, like it was for the Sustainable Investment Law, there is no way to impose civic will as a reality.

For the new reality we decided together 2 years and 9 months ago.

In the course of our anti-corruption work, we will also present the state anti-corruption strategy ʹ our Government's vision of rule and law enforcement, the establishment of public administration quality, health reform and accounting of public money management. I invite you all to join us on this joint journey, the comprehensive process that, for the first time, provides strategy for the citizen of the Republic, not for the offices of government archives. Let's all become part of the inevitable road to the brighter future.

Thank you and bye.
