Russia's foreign affairs minister, Sergey Lavrov, has said that what is happening in terms of the situation between Kosovo and Serbia “is organically appropriate to the trend we observe when it comes to the situation inside O The SEU first reaches a certain kind of agreement, then the result is celebrated and then we observe how the sabotage process starts”.
According to him, there is a small portion of agreements that have been reached under O's care The SEU and then the West has methodically broken them.
“When it comes to the case of Serbia and Kosovo, I remember that once the EU as the key mediator and the UN General Assembly's invitation, since it was the international institution that demanded that Brussels be the mediator in the establishment of bridges between Belgrade and Pristina, as early as 2013, so 10 years ago, it ceremonially announced that an agreement was reached to form the Commission Association (mostly, Serbian.red.) Nothing happened, and the people who were assigned to Pristina to manage that Serb area absolutely refuse to implement that agreement. And what does the EU do? Do you think it requires them to behave? No, they are asking Serbia to change its position, furthermore, a new document for the creation of AKS has been drafted, which is dramatically different from what Belgrade and Pristina agreed on 10 years ago. It is very similar with many agreements reached under the auspices of the OSCE “, Lavrov said at a press conference in Skopje, where he is participating in the OSCE ministerial summit, reports Serbian media “Politika”.
Speaking about Serbia's EU membership, Lavrov said Brussels consistently conditioned Belgrade that new chapters would not be opened until Serbia approached its foreign policy positions with those of Brussels, including the issue of imposing sanctions on Russia.
This is the EU's convincing power. They also say they will not accept it into the EU until it recognises Kosovo. Or you may not know Kosovo, but at least allow Pristina to join international organisations. You're serious?
He also said he is very concerned about the situation with the Serb people in Kosovo.
During my working time as Russia's permanent representative to the UN in New York, I traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbian Krajina, Croatia, Belgrade, and I saw everything they did to Belgrade. And now they're saying the war in Ukraine is the first to start on Europe's territory, and in 1999 there was no such war in Europe. I remember how the U.S. and English media expressed themselves at the time on many foreheads stated that the repentance of Serbs would cleanse the Serbian people. Now such a line continues, not only towards Serbia but also to the Republika Srpska, so to all those who think about their interests and who want to preserve their dignity”, the Russian diplomacy chief said.
He added that the West encourages some, threatens others.
Lavrov said people of Balkan countries would not allow the West to turn peoples against each other.
“Was in the interest of the West to destroy Yugoslavia, no one in the Balkans needed such a united force, the West always wanted to turn one nation against another into the Balkans and continues to do so successfully today. However, I am sure that during their long, difficult but glorious history, the people of Balkan countries have, however, developed a genetic code within themselves and that ultimately they will not allow to be offended, they will not allow our Western colleagues to constantly turn one place against another, one nation against”, Lavrov said at this press conference in Skopje.
He also noted that Western countries “encourage several ethnic groups in the Balkans and take an aggressive, dictatorial stance against others, demanding that they join sanctions against Russia before it is too late”.
