Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has reacted after voting the Sovereign Fund law in the Kosovo Assembly.

According to Kurti, this was done after a long work with donors, experts and international partners who have supported it.

With this decision, we placed Kosovo on the financial map of the region and Europe and laid the basis for creating an inheritance for future generations. The Sovereign Fund will work to strengthen the country's public enterprises and transform them into powerful corporations in the country and beyond. The Sovereign Fund will bring a new investment cycle into the country by linking Kosovo to global financial markets and by raising and increasing the flow of investment capital for the entire country's economy. According to Kurti, the government will work on building the organisational structure of the Sovereign Fund.

“Law is only the first step, since Government is expecting numerous jobs in building the organisational structure of the Sovereign Fund and in deepening public sector reforms for preparing companies that will be organised as assets of the Sovereign Fund. We will continue to work with domestic and international experts and learn from the best international experiences of sovereign funds in Europe and the world, but also in the initiative to create legal framework for the capital market in Kosovo. ” he said.
