After completing questions from the Special Prosecutor's Office, questions about witness Dejan Jeftic have begun to present Hashim Thaci's defense through lawyer Gregory Keohe.
Responding to attorney Keohe's questions, the witness said that following an incident in his village as they were leaving, he met Bajram Morina and his group, which had shot them.
When we started running away, we couldn't go back to our village of Muvlan, when we were in the woods we approached the village of Stravuccina, and at that moment we saw a group of KLA soldiers. At this moment, Bajram Morina when she saw us walking in that direction telling us what happened, at that moment I answered in Albanian we must save the women and children who are down there because it was time for agricultural cultures to reap, and at the moment what happened, they started shooting at us. We were about 350-400m away, there was a stream there, and we didn't want to go through the magistrate and move from Recan to the old Vucina and bullets passed through me from all sides, maybe I thought it was out of fear or it might actually have happened”, Jeftic said.
While lawyer Keohe quoted the witness's statements given to the SPS, told him Bajram Morina's group had called them terrorists.
Not exactly terrorists, I don't know why you understood the concept of terrorism. Some of them were in uniform, some were in civilian clothes, but they had weapons”, the witness said in response to what Keohe said.
The witness said that the reference to Bajram Morina's group was unintentional.
Maybe I said that on purpose, not that I wanted to offend them. Maybe I said the word "terrorist." I may have said it, but I said it in the subconscious. I didn't mean to offend anybody, said Jephthah.
During his testimony to the SPS by 2020, he had said KLA soldiers had found weapons in the car where Dejan and Krsta Jeftic and Stanko Stankovovic were located.
“I didn't have a gun at that moment”, Jephthah said, claiming he was found in their car.
During the questions posed, the witness said it was not locked in the Yugoslav Army, but has carried out mandatory military service.
Dejan Jephthah said that during the time of the ban, he never appeared before a court of justice.
No, in front of anyone but the commander who was noticed to have put a red bet on the front of his head while we were standing in the bunker”, Jephthah said.
He said that no one accused them of any crime and that they had nothing to prove.
No, no one accused us of anything, no one told us anything, absolutely at all, not because there was no kind of base at all, no cause to prove any evidence”, Jephthah said.
The witness said there is no knowledge in case the KLA has pronounced disciplinary measures against the persons it had banned.
I don't have this information. I have not learned and learned no such find that has followed any process or disciplinary measures against them”, the witness said. /Betimi injustice.
