Berisha: I'm being unjustly imprisoned

Today, former Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha is expected to be arrested.

He's suspected of corruption.

Berisha in his address to supporters of the Democratic Party said he is being unjustly imprisoned.

He said with the measure of security obligation to present to him and the removal of immunity has been violated by the Constitution and the Parliament's regulation.

The former Albanian prime minister has called on citizens to reflect, as according to him, Russia's scenario is being repeated in Albania.

“Albanians wake up because what happened in Putin's Russia is happening. Not dictatorships like old ones with concentration camps but modern dictatorship. This is not Sali Berisha's battle, though I am being imprisoned in the most unjust way. This is the battle for freedom of Albanians, their dignity or submission, the battle for Albania's self-existence. Will we win this battle? Absolutely.

The DP chairman stressed that the opposition must persuade citizens to overthrow Prime Minister Edi Rama.

“Without telling the truth to Albanians, without convincing them, Edi Rama cannot fall. Because without that victory, his fraud in Albanians would be even stronger. Albanian eyes would still be closed. We enter the election knowing with greater conviction than Eddie Rama's choice. But we went into elections to prepare every shot of this fierce enemy of your vote. We showed Albanians and the world that with Eddie Rama here are the facts, there can't be a choice. Elections in Albania are nothing like in Belgrade, as in Russia, Belarus, Iran and other dictatorships”, he added.
