Stefan Schenach, head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe who monitored elections in Serbia, said the truth in Serbia is somewhat shocking, that elections were not fair, that it was manipulated by votes, and that all of these are problems for a country that wants to walk on the democratic road, reports N1.
What we saw was an entire campaign dominated by the president. This is not the president's business. The president is a neutral person who must ensure the country and all people. But the current president managed the elections and was a candidate at all levels, whether it was a village or the entire republic”, recalls Shenach in a guest presentation in Novi Dan.
He emphasises that the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has only attended parliamentary elections, not those of Belgrade.
He added that during the vote count, he saw there were ballots that were made in photocopies and that had a stamp.
This should be investigated by police”, Novi Dan's guest said.
Asked whether these were democratic elections, Shenach says everything that happened shows that a post-election seminar and post-election activities are needed.
Asked about Vladimir Bilcik's statement, which said the elections passed smoothly, Shenach says partnership and democracy do not stand in beautiful words, but in fact.
“And the truth was a little shocking to what is happening in your country,” he noted.
