Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he has told US President Joe Biden during a telephone conversation today that Israel will resume its operations in Gaza by full force after the current ceasefire is over, the BBC reported, broadcast the Express.
Israel suspended its operations in Gaza on Friday to allow the release of hostages held in the territory in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners, but the ceasefire will last only until Monday.
Netanyah added that he would welcome an extension of the ceasefire if this means the release of 10 other hostages every day, as defined in the initial agreement.
A call from the White House said the two leaders had agreed that “would continue to work to ensure the release of all hostages”.
The Gaza Health Ministry, led by Hamas, says that more than 14,500 people -- including at least 5,500 children -- have been killed in Gaza since Israel began attacking territory in retaliation for the October 7th attacks. UN agencies say the ministry provides reliable figures.
