writes journalist Lirim Mehmetaj:
Wesley K. Clark: “How old are you?”
Hashim Thaci: “29”
Wesley K. Clark: “Pak as much as my son”
This is the dialogue shown by American General Clark in his memoirs, expressing fascination with the new, dry leader of Kosovo Albanians.
How is it possible for 29 years with a liberation army leader, to create global alliances since those called “terrorist group” the same west to take allies and help break free?
How is it that by 29 years you lead a movement that convinces the Western world to go against self-created rules for not interfering with the internal sovereignty of states and to take bomber action?
How is it possible from an agreement like that of Rambouillet that almost envisioned Kosovo within Serbia to advance towards belief in the West, and especially the United States of America to support declaring independence?
How can it be that despite unilaterally proclaimed independence, you achieve recognition by all democratic states and almost most of the world's states?
How is it possible with a budget to create that kind of lobbie machine to membership the newly created state in over 150 international organizations?
In Hashim Thaci's case, almost every political action he starts with “is possible...” and ends up not following explanation or response.
Since the world is organized into national states, there is something less than 200 people in human history who at one point have said “irresolute independence and sovereignty...”.
One of them Hashim Thaci.
There is no question that he has not done this alone, and there have been many others who have contributed, but Thaci has reserved world history for a special place, while Albanian history has made an irreplaceable one.
Happy November 28th.
