Five people have died and four others have been injured in the break-up of a snow avalanche in the Oshtrankuh Mountains in western Iran, state media reports.
The bodies of five climbers were found by rescue teams near the top of the 4,150m summit, San Boran, located about 300 km southwest of Tehran.
Four climbers were rescued and taken to the hospital.
The team of nine climbers consisted of two mountaineers from Melair, a town in the province of Hamadan, and seven of the towns of Boruyard and Durod in Lorestan province.
This group had started its journey on November 23rd, despite warnings by local authorities about the possible impact of avalanches. / REL
