The biggest investments for 2022 were under construction

During 2022, the value of investments at the country level was 1 billion and 136m and 988 thousand and 425 euros, according to the latest data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK).

According to the results of the company's Statistics Investment Survey for 2022, construction investments occupied the main share of investments by 53.0%.

Other investments that carry a significant weight are those in machinery and equipment at 42.7%, while other investments with a smaller weight under the total investment are: investments in vulnerable assets by about 3.7%; investments in intellectual property products by 0.4%; and biological investments cultivated and agricultural greenhouses by about 0.1%.

The most investment activities were trade in majority and minority (26.8%), construction (25.2%), production (15.8%).

Investments in Company Size

In 2022, the largest percentage of investments of Kosovo companies was in construction, equipment and machinery by over 90%.

While, the largest percentage of investments in the country by small companies (10, 49 workers) by 44,4%, the middle-sized companies (50, 249 workers) with 24.3%, and mini-business (1-9 workers) with 22.7%.

According to the country-level results, in 2022, the highest percentage of investments of companies by regions was in Pristina (49,9%), Prizren (11.3%), Mitrovica (9.9%), Gjilan (8.9%), Peja (7,4%), Ferizaj (6,7%), and Gjakova (6.0%).

New, imported purchases and ongoing investments

Under new purchases, investment leads construction (28.3%), retail and majority trade (24.2%), production (16.1%), electricity supply, steam gas and air conditioning (10.6%), while other sectors have lower rates.

The sectors leading up to imported purchases were production (24.7%), majority and minority trade (23.1%), information and communication (17.1%), while other sectors have lower percentages.

Investment purchases lead majority and minority trade (46,6%), construction (24.4%), real estate activities (7.9%), professional, scientific and technical activities (7.8%), while other sectors have lower percentages.

Funding resources for investment financing

As for the investment source, about 50.6% of the company's investment value was realised by its own funds and 35.1% by local banks. Meanwhile, other sources bear a smaller burden under total investment resources.
