Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he has received assurances from Washington that the military assistance to Ukraine will continue to be “consistent and unbroken”.
Zelensky's statement came shortly after he called on allies to arm his country so that it can survive the winter season.
The requests for weapons he made during his first visit to NATO headquarters since Russia began the invasion of Ukraine last year.
The “has become clear that America will continue to offer Ukraine constant and constant assistance we need for our defence”, Zelensky said after meeting with US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin in Brussels.
The Ukrainian leader said that with Secretary Austin he talked about strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities before the winter, separately in terms of “drones and rockets”.
“I am grateful to all partners for their continued readiness to help our defence”, the Ukrainian president said.
Zelensky said his state's focus is on strengthening air defence.
Western countries have helped Ukraine with various weapons since the war began. The US is Ukraine's main supporter, as military aid worth $44 billion has so far been sent. / REL
