The rapporteur for Kosovo in the European Parliament, Violet von Cromon, has confirmed that a package of measures has been prepared to Serbia in response to the September 24th armed attack on Zvecan Banjska.
So declared Von Croamon in an interview with Alice Taylor in the podcast Inside Albania.
The “would not call it sanctions, because they should be adopted by the Council, but we are talking about political and financial measures, which will naturally harm Serbia's” government, Von Croamon said.
For von Cremon, Vucic must co-operate and provide a correct investigation into the event of September 24th.
“Vucic is under control of much happening in Serbia. It is hard to imagine that he did not know what is going on with the purchase of weapons, or the organisation of the aggressor group. However, I don't think Serbia is interested in a larger military attack, or in war”, she added.
For the rapporteur for Kosovo it is important that Serbia sign any agreement reached with Kosovo, while the latter ensures the establishment of the Serb Communist Community in the north.
Von Croamon found that a new proposal is under discussion for pending issues in the dialogue between the parties.
What I understand is that many diplomats are drafting another proposal on how we're going to make money. More details cannot be given at the moment”, von Cromon said.
With even tougher tones, the Dutch Euro-Deputate of the Social Democratic Group, Thijs Reuten, told journalist Alice Taylor that it is clear which side is destabilizing the situation.
“
Reuten was clear in his request: The European Union must punish Serbia.
“The EU must abandon the catastrophic reconciliation policy with Vucic because it is not functioning. How many times Vucic has returned from Brussels to Belgrade and proudly indicated that he has signed nothing, Commissioner Varhely has gone to the door with 600m euros! This must be over! ”- he said.
For Reuten, it is important to return to the table of dialogue, but only after provocations have stopped.
Whatever happened, not only during the past week, but also in months after the Ohrid Agreement, enters the long list of provocations. The right atmosphere should be created for the parties to sit at a table again and work for normalisation”, Thijs Reuten underlined.
The Dutch Euro-Depute also criticised the close relationship between Serbia and Russia.
For Reuten, Vucic's meeting with the Russian ambassador to Belgrade just one day after Banjska's attack, is an indication that the Serbian president does not take the European Union seriously.
