Turkey is preparing to take over command of the NATO Mission in Kosovo, KFOR, in a period when tensions with Serbia have marked increases, Anadolu reports.
Italy, which took over the 27th KFOR mission from Hungary on October 10th 2022, is preparing to hand over the task following the completion of the command period. Turkey, October 10th 2023, will take over command through a ceremony.
Turkish Ministry of National Defence officials, in a statement on the issue, named KFOR one of the most important missions in ensuring peace and stability in the Balkans.
The critical role that KFOR plays and its existence are still a must for Kosovo”, the statement said. /Anadolu
