Ukraine's president, Voldymyr Zelensky, has drawn a comparison to Hamas' recent attack on Israel with the Russian invasion of Ukraine and has criticised Iran for both conflicts.
On Monday, he compared the Palestinian armed group to Russia, saying it was a “terrorist organisation”, while Russia could be considered a “terrorist state”, writes Al Jazeera, records Telegrafi.
Zelensky told the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Copenhagen through video connection: “The only difference is that there is a terrorist organisation that attacked Israel and here is a terrorist state that attacked Ukraine. The stated goals are different, but the substance is the same”.
"Irani can't say there's no connection to what's happening in Ukraine if you sell Shaheds in Russia." Iran cannot say it has nothing to do with what is happening in Israel if its officials claim they support what is happening in Israel”, Zelensky said.
Israel was caught unawares Saturday when Hamas launched an attack, blowing up parts of the country's highly fortified partition fence and sending fighters to Israeli communities along Gaza's border.
The surprise attack triggered a major war between Israel and the armed group, which has so far killed more than 1,100 people.
The conflict continues to escalate, with Israel on Monday, which stated it would deploy a <x0-blocked total” in Gaza, with dense populations often described as a “burg in the open air”, where 120,000 people have already moved because of recent tensions.
