Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyeen, have appeared at a news conference a day before the Berlin Process Summit in Tirana is held.
In his address Rama stressed that at this summit it is not the intention to discuss the war between Israel and Hamas, as well as the attack on northern Kosovo, but there will be a space to discuss neighbourly issues in the region.
Tirana's <x0m>Samm is in the wake of the Berlin Process and is the vision of Chancellor Angela Merkel, who brought together the leaders of the Western Balkans to sit down at a table to start a co-operation for the future and where co-operation is defined within the framework of the 4 EU freedoms that give countries the opportunity to give more”.
All efforts have gone and gone in this direction. The EU has taken on a role under the commission's leadership to bring about a concrete contribution that is very important. This is the largest innovation that enables countries on one side to access an extra EU fund and have new spaces in the common EU market. We have also established a space to discuss neighbourly issues in the region, but nothing more because that is not the goal. Indeed Tirana is the European capital of the Balkans, but it is not the belly of Europe. Europe's belly is in Brussels where these” topics are discussed, Rama said.
While Ursula Von der Leyen, questioned that after the latest situation in Kosovo, what do you expect to happen with the Ohrid Agreement, said that the “Ohrid Agreements that were reached in February and March are the basis for reconciliation through EU dialogue”.
It is important that Kosovo and Serbia return to the table for normalisation of the relationship. This is the right way for the future because Kosovo and Serbia will be part of the EU”.
