Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic condemned the violence of Serb paramilitary units in northern Kosovo and that, as they said, Belgrade is turning them into heroes, therefore called for EU and Western measures against Serbia.
On Sunday, September 24th, about 30 armed attackers killed a Kosovo police officer in the village of Banjska in northern Kosovo. Kosovo security forces eliminated three Serb terrorists in the battle, so Belgrade declared days of mourning.
Rama, on an official visit to Zagreb, said at a conference that the attack is as disturbing as Belgrade's response.
“We have a crime, the murder of a police officer and have the heroisation of those who committed it”, the Albanian prime minister said, stressing that this should not be acceptable in Europe, which has opposing values.
Serbia's “moves cannot remain unanswered”
Plenkovic stressed that these “movements could not be left unanswered” and that Belgrade's decision on the day of mourning “almost implies identification with what happened”.
He has stressed that an investigation will continue to determine fully what happened, after which the EU special envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia will make proposals for measures.
The European Commission (KE) can also approve autonomous measures without the consent of all member states, as it did against Kosovo several months ago.
Croatian Prime Minister stressed that it is certain that the measures will be taken and Rama demanded that they be implemented “without wasting the time”, because Belgrade's decision on the day of mourning leaves no room for different interpretations.
