Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the country is entering a long and difficult <x0 battle>, following a surprise attack by Palestinian militants from the banned Gaza Strip that led to hundreds of deaths, the capture of dozens of Israeli hostages and sparked fears of a regional escalation, writes The Guardian.
On Sunday morning, as the Israelites tried to understand the extent of the attack the day before, the possibility of an earthly invasion in Gaza and a broader clash with Hezbollah in Lebanon appeared. Iran's armed group, Hezbollah, said it had fired rockets and artillery north of Israel “in solidarity” with the Palestinian people.
