Yevgeny Pigozin's 25-year-old son, Pavel Pigozin, has moved to take control of the Wagner Group, according to an American institute.
The move will provide an alternative leader for Wagner Commander Andrey Troshev, who has support from Vladimir Putin.
This reportedly shows that some “of Wagner personnel are interested in gathering around an alternative linked to the Prigozhin to the Kremlin and Trosev, linked to the defence ministry”, the ISW said.
“MMM will have to provide equipment and supplies for a large, reconstructed under Rosgvard in any case, as Rosgwardia has no logistical infrastructure to do so itself”.
However, the ISW quoted a source of Wagner as reporting that negotiations between Pavel Prygozhin and the National Guard included details that the paramilitary group guarding its name, symbols, ideology, commanders and management.
The news comes after there was uncertainty about Wagner's future after he died in an airplane accident in August of his founder, Yevgeny Pigozin.
The accident came two months after he challenged Russian defence authorities on 24 June, when he seized military objects at Rostov-on-Don and members of his private military company (PMC) marched towards Moscow.
It's about the Wagner group that had been key to Russia's efforts in the town of Bakhmut of Donetsk and offers security to countries in Africa where the group gives the Kremlin access to valuable resources.
