The defender of France's national team, Jean-Clair Todibo, has apologised Monday after being seen laughing when France and Holland were holding a minute of silence in honour of war victims between Israel and Hamas and in honour of a teacher killed in France by a suspected extremist.
Todibo said he experienced “smiling nervousness”, after French media reported that he was asked by the French Football Federation to explain that action.
I don't think I lack respect for these things. I laughed at nervousness, but in no way was I kidding the current state of”, He told reporters Monday prior to France's friendly match against Scotland on Tuesday.
Todibo said he was sitting in the stand-up in the middle of opposing fans.

France's coach, Didier Deschamps, said Todibo had met him to apologize, adding that he is “cut” from the controversy.
According to the French newspaper L'Equipe, the French federation had written to the defender of the French club Nica, asking him to explain.
Todibo, who was called by Deschamps to the French national only after Arsenal's defender William Saliba withdrew, did not play against Holland on Friday.
He will be available to the coach for Tuesday's match against Scotland.
