Forty Albanians among them citizens from Kosovo and Northern Macedonia were evacuated Sunday evening from Israel to Albania, the Ministry for Europe and Albanian Foreign Affairs announced.
Israel declared war conditions after being attacked by Palestinian Hamas militants on October 7th.
In response, the Israeli army began the air bombing of Gaza's Belt.
Over 1,000 people were reportedly killed by both sides.
Albania's Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs said the evacuation of 40 Albanians has been done following their request to leave Israel.
Her officials confirmed to Radio Free Europe that among them are two from Kosovo and nine from Northern Macedonia.
There will be more special flights to Tel Aviv in the next few days, while the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs is in co-ordination with the ministries of the countries of the region to come to the aid of all citizens seeking to return to their countries”, this minister said after the arrival of the plane at the “International Airport at Teresa” in Tirana, Sunday evening.
Free Europe radio addressed the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora during the day about Kosovo citizens in Israel and their possible evacuation, but received no response.
Earlier, through a video on social networks, Albania's ambassador to Israel, Mary Kube, said everything is being done to distance Albanian citizens from Israel.
“are difficult hours for us here in Israel, but on behalf of the Albanian Government I guarantee Albanian citizens and their families, which under the direction of our Foreign Ministry and Israeli authorities, all procedures for their security are being followed during their stay and departure towards Albania. There is maximum attention to our citizens, to embassy employees and family members, as well as to citizens from Kosovo, Montenegro or North Macedonia”, said Ambassador Kubebe.
Albania's Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs made available the +972 54 904 2813 for all Albanian citizens in Israel and need information on their departure.
