Italian minister compares Hamas to Nazis

Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tayan has compared the Palestinian militant group Hamas to the Nazis in an interview with the newspaper La Stampa on Friday.

Hamas militants “are no different than the Nazis. They're cowards. A soldier would not be taking a two - month - old baby's head off. The missiles are continuing to fire from Gaza. Hamas must stop rocket attacks on Israel, otherwise it is clear there will be rebuttal of”, Tayan told the Italian newspaper.

Hamas militants broke down strong border barricades and moved from Gaza to southern Israel last Saturday, killing over 1,300 people in Israeli border cities, including over 260 at a music festival, as well as injuring 3,000 others.

Israel responded with large air raids on Gaza, killing more than 1,400 Palestinians and wounding more than 6,600 others.

Taani underlined that Hamas and Palestinians are not the same.

“Palestina is something else. The Palestinian people are victims of Hamas”, the Italian minister said.

Tayan called for <x0) terrorists to be isolated. We must show that there is an Arab people who have nothing to do with them”.

There have been disturbing reports about methods used by Hamas to kill people in Israeli border towns, including children. But, the Israeli Army said Thursday it could neither confirm nor deny these reports.
