Kosovo Deputy Speaker Enver Hoxhaj has strongly condemned the September 24th terrorist attack on Zvecan Banjsk, where police sergeant Africa Buxaku was killed and two others were injured. It says it is the last moment for the international community to sanction Serbia, until the Government of Kosovo requires that the police's success translate it into political and diplomatic victories.

Former Foreign Minister, MP simultaneously The PDK in an interview for Kosova Prees, stresses that Sunday's attack has changed regional policy and that it requires clarity even in terms of continuing dialogue. Criticism is shown against the state leaders, who he says must come up with a strategy to move forward.

Saying that deep reflection of what happened a week ago in the north of the country and Serbia's continuing threats is needed, Hoxhaj stresses that the latter, through the terrorist attack, aimed at annexing the north like Russia had done with Crime. He warns of the danger facing the country from other possible attacks by the Serbian state.

He ranks a host of arguments that make Serbia responsible for last Sunday's terrorist attack.

“There is no doubt that what happened in the north on Sunday has been an attack and act of planned aggression, with clear political agenda, people who have been trained, weapons which have been secured by the Serbian state and the time of producing this weapon shows that the Serbian state is behind and in Serbia cannot buy a pistol, a pistol on the black market, leave more weapons for a heavy infantry in uniform. But beyond the amount of weapons, production time, I think that attention in Kosovo should be about their political agenda, the platform, their political goal and what happened Sunday is nothing but similar to an attempt to annex this part of Kosovo territory. In my view is similar to the annexing of the Crime on the part of Russia, it is similar to that of the paramilitary, paramilitary, paramilitary, criminal gangs in Donbas, it is similar to the way the war started in Croatia and what the Serbian policy agenda has been like to control Croatia's territory is similar to what happened in Bosnia... Our international partners... should view Sunday's act of aggression as a turning point in Kosovo-Serbia reports and in regional policy”, Hoxhaj follows.

For the PDK deputy, it is important to investigate the whole case and Kosovo be repositioned.

“I think what the Republic of Kosovo needs at this time is that after this event there is a full thought of why the event happened, who stands behind it, why the border in the north of the country has not been maintained, how KFOR is doing its work literally and how it should be used in this event as an event to reconsider and reposition the Republic of Kosovo. Of course, dialogue is a duty for Kosovo and Serbia, but I think that we should not go into dialogue without clarifying the literal way that has happened so far, on Sunday, what is Serbia's role in this process and what should be the role of the international factor to have a clarity where we want to get”, he points out.

The terrorist attack, Serbia's continuing threats and its major Serbian ambitions, Hoxhaj says they prove that Kosovo cannot return to the table of dialogue as nothing has happened.

I think it's up to the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to see how this victory of the Kosovo Police towards a terrorist group translate it into a major political and diplomatic victory. And I think that Kosovo goes stronger on the table, but at the same time I'm thinking that what happened on Sunday shows that it is the last time Kosovo becomes at least part of NATO's peace partnership, it is vital that Kosovo get recognition from the five countries that have not recognised... There should be political clarity for dialogue to end with mutual recognition, with binding legal agreement, which is final between Kosovo and Serbia that it is political agenda that has been back in the 90th years of 2023, and in that direction, I think Kosovo should not leave dialogue and table, but Kosovo dares to appear at the table and talk about the Kosovo- Serbia, as before Sunday, is the whole new situation”, Hoxhaj points out.

As for the Association of Serb majority municipalities, Hoxhaj stresses the need for co-ordination with internationals and state strategies to move towards normalisation with Serbia. Critically, it is against state leaders who say “should not come up with titles and news. ”
