The Kosovo government said it supports holding new elections in four municipalities in northern Kosovo, on the basis of the legal framework it has offered.

The Kosovo Government spokesman, Kryeziu, told Radio Free Europe that the administrative instruction published in September is the result of Kosovo executive pledges for stressing the situation in the north, “but also the reflection of our belief that the new elections there should be promoted by the democratic and source will of citizens”.

The government does not declare and organise elections. Yet he supports them. We consider it extremely important that the upcoming election campaign is open and fair, and elections are free and democratic. Turnout of Kosovo's Serb citizens is cruise”, Kryeziu said, commenting on the request of the Serbian List for elections in the north to be announced,

The Serbian list ʹ the main party of Serbs in Kosovo, which has official Belgrade support, reported on October 13th that it is ready to participate in the elections in municipalities in the north.

Earlier, this party had conditioned holding elections, demanding the withdrawal of Kosovo's special units, amnesty of all Serbs arrested who participated in barricades or protests, and the resignation of Albanian mayors”

On October 13th, the leader of this subject, Goran Rakic, did not specifically mention those conditions, but said that on the decision to participate in the elections, the party took it into co-operation with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq.

“To stimulate the political process and dialogue that would contribute to meeting our conditions, which we have highlighted several times so far”, Rakic said during a media conference in North Mitrovica.
