European Union spokesman Peter Stano has said that the union states have not seen sufficient steps from Kosovo for the full decomposition of the situation in the north, and punitive measures remain in force.
The “Massat presented for Kosovo were a direct response to the transition it had, or the lack of decomposition we have seen earlier, I'm not talking about 24 September, I'm talking about the period before that.
Member states have not yet seen enough steps from Kosovo for significant decompositions, for that reason the measures are still in force”, Stano has said.
He during a media conference said the EU is the sincere mediator of dialogue, helping the parties find a consensus.
We've repeated many times, there's nothing else to say about it. The road to the EU for Kosovo and Serbia is inevitable through the EU-mediated dialogue -- there is no other way -- the two sides should understand that dialogue must continue and the parties should co-operate meaningfully by reaching the compromise needed to normalise the” reports, Stano has indicated.
The EU spokesman has declined to respond if there are any package of measures for Serbia, but has stressed that they are awaiting full investigation.
When we're at the investigation, I have to repeat what I've said many times now, we expect the final outcome of the full investigation. When investigations are completed, the EU's results are in place, and there is clear view of what happened and who is behind that, then member states will decide for further steps”, he said.
