The European Union has expressed concern over the situation created in the Middle East following the Israeli attacks on the Hamas organisation, which the EU considers a terrorist organisation.
EU spokesman Peter Stano has confirmed that EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell has called a meeting of foreign ministers of the 27 member states to discuss the situation. This meeting will take place in Muskat, where most European ministers are located for the Middle East Co-operation Council meeting.
The EU has reiterated Israel No doubt he has the right to defend himself against such attacks but to respect international law. The EU spokesman has said that many diplomatic activities are under way, while calling for Hamas to release the hostages he has taken.
As one of the biggest humanitarian aid donors, the EU is also considering this assistance to Palestinians following recent attacks. Some member states have decided to suspend such help to ensure that organizations, considered terrorist, do not benefit from them.
