During the discussion at the US State Department, Deputy Assistant Secretary Escobar underlined the deep-rooted link between the United States and the people of Kosovo. He further stressed the importance of the Ohrid Agreement and called for its rapid implementation by both Kosovo and Serbia.
The American Oda delegation, led by Executive Director Arian Zeka, shared stories of lost business opportunities in Kosovo due to tensions in the region. In response, Deputy Assistant Secretary Escobar stressed that normalising relations would unblock significant economic growth for Kosovo and the wider region.
Both sides agreed on the great importance of stability and peace in the Balkans as the fundamental elements for prosperity. Furthermore, the interconnection between normalised relations between Kosovo and Serbia and overall regional stability was discussed.
Stressing the shared vision for the future, Deputy Assistant Secretary Escobar and representatives of the American Ode agreed that the road ahead for Kosovo and other Balkan countries depends on their entry into the European Union. They agreed that such integration would bring an era of increased economic opportunities, as well as strengthen regional harmony.
