Nine American citizens have been killed in Israel, the White House confirmed on October 9th, as fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas militants continues.
“We express condolences to the families of the victims and to all the affected and injured, and we wish for quick recovery”, the White House announced.
Over 700 people have been killed in Israel and over 500 in Gaza since the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched massive attacks on Israel on 7 October. Also reported, Hamas militants have taken dozens of Israeli hostages.
Israel reacted sharply, conducting air strikes in Gaza. Israel has declared a state of war and ordered the complete siege of Gaza. Likewise, about 300,000 militia soldiers have been summoned to fight against Hamas.
“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and remain in touch with our Israeli partners, separately with local authorities”, the White House announced.
