According to him, it is in the interest of all countries, as well as Serbia, to accept Kosovo as an independent state.
In the KiE, where the recent tensions between Kosovo and Serbia were discussed, he said Kosovo should become a member of the Council of Europe, as well as of the European Union.
I first want to address all colleagues, those countries that have not yet recognised Kosovo's independence to do so. Ukraine, my country is one of them, I sent the bill to the Ukrainian Parliament to recognise Kosovo's independence and I'm sure this will happen very soon, because this is the reality and we have to label things as they are. This is an independent state, it's already happened. And it's in everyone's interest on this continent to accept reality and move forward, and I want to address Serbs now, and Serbia, and say it's in Serbia's best interest to do this”, he said, broadcast the KP.
He said Serbia should not try to turn back something that has lost.
“Germania after the first world war was full of divisions, they accepted the World War II catastrophe, after World War II Germany acknowledged reality... and became a prosperous, wonderful country of happy Germans in other states and happy Germans within Germany itself. Serbia must act absolutely the same way to build a normal country, to go to Europe, to become a member of the European Union, and not try to take back something that they think has been lost, even if they feel that they have lost it, they have lost it forever. And now it's only time to accept this, and to move forward and not enable countries like Russia, like the Russian bear, some other tiger or anyone else to use this division inside Europe, trying to call on people trying to cause bloodshed, trying to make problems for the free world”, he added.
