Following recent tensions in the north, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has called for an increase in the number of NATO troops in Kosovo.
“An increase of NATO troops and military equipment in our country would improve security and peace in Kosovo and in the Western Balkan region”, Kurti said in an interview for the German newspaper “Welt”.
Currently there are about 3,800 KFOR soldiers stationed in Kosovo, about 70 of whom are Germans.
The German soldiers are welcome in Kosovo”, Kurti said.
We remember that for 20 days, local Serbs placed barricades on roads in the North in sign of riots for the arrest of former police officer Dejan Pantic. After his release from custody in house arrest, Serbs made a decision to remove barricades.
