German authorities announced Sunday the arrest of a 32-year-old Iranian national under suspicion that he was planning an attack on extremely dangerous chemicals for life.
Police and prosecutors also disclosed that another person had been arrested at night in the town of Castro-Rauxel, northwest of Dortmund.
In a joint statement, authorities said the 32-year-old was allegedly planning a major attack, motivated by Islamic extremism, allegedly using dangerous chemicals such as cyanide and Recin.
German news agency dpa reported that specialists in special costumes, guaranteeing protection from chemical agents, received evidence from the Iranian citizens' home.
According to the newspaper Bild German authorities had received information from an Allied intelligence agency about plans for an alleged chemical attack.
