Social residences in Plemeti, outside any standard of living

In Kosovo many families live in harsh economic conditions and environments that do not meet minimum living conditions. And their lives have made it even harder for the last crisis, especially for residents who live in social buildings in the village of Plemetin in the Obilic Community. Families whose only source [...]
Families with the sole source of income in social assistance live under serious economic conditions. Radio Kosovo has visited social residences at the Plemetin of Obilic, and during talks with residents it has realised that the social assistance they receive and the infrastructure they live in does not meet even the basic needs of these families.
Hanife Gashi, who is resident of these buildings, told Kosovo Radio that their life is very difficult since the only source has social assistance and that the environment she and her six children live in does not meet the minimum conditions for living.
With social help I live, even this stupid social that I'm sick of that other help spray. With six children, orphans, I live because my husband died. Very hard. Neither can I pay or where the rest of the food is, the other necessities don't even know how to say”, she said.
Another challenge for Hanife Gashi remains the weak infrastructure of objects they live in. The environments in which they live are partially damaged and threatened by electricity, since very often it happens to burn the power cables, she said.
We've always got power obstacles, currents flowing, crack and we always have obstacles. I don't know, we can't help but be caught with children and go in front of the municipality and tell them we can't do this at the same time, Gashi said.
Many families live in this village under difficult conditions. Ragip Morina in an answer to Radio Kosovo says it is very difficult to ensure the existence of his family.
“Our conditions are very difficult, we receive social assistance. The store is all I borrowed to get a map, and we have to pay and we don't. Very, very hard, we're going. The sixth of me live, the children are looking for the seas. It seems to me that every day is getting harder, said Morina.
Morina also said that even the social assistance she receives is at risk of losing it, as criteria predict that when the youngest child in the family is five years old, he automatically leaves the scheme.
I'm gonna stop this social help I get. My son's four years old, but how do I get 5 to stop him? If they stop me I'll take my son to my office and tell you to find a job. Many problems that demands are already growing”, he said.
According to Kosovo Statistics Agency data, 18 per cent of Kosovo's population lives below the poverty line and 5 per cent population below the border of extreme poverty.
