It is known that this championship is not as high as the World Cup in football, but that some post-Soccer states have the second most developed sport and requires great media coverage, writes Periscope.
So our Handball Federation is fully entitled to membership in the World Handball Federation, the IHF and for that it has the right to broadcast.
Thus, the IHF right to broadcast the World Championship in Handball for Kosovo addressed the Serbian broadcaster Arenasport, which is in Belgrade.
In this case Periscope has sent questions to the Independent Media Council to understand more about the situation.
In the KPM's response, it says that for channels that are licensed abroad, the KPM has no jurisdiction over them, but what is required by the KPM in the reported case is that distribution operators who retransmitt these channels have valid arrangements for carrying them to Kosovo.
In terms of your first question, let me explain to you that under the RTK Law, public television has some obligations that have to do with covering particular events and that in terms of the possibility of broadcasting the RTK European Handball Championship, please turn to RTK for more information. For channels that are licensed abroad, the KKP has no jurisdiction over them, but what is required by the KKP in this case is that distribution operators who retransmitt these channels, to have currency agreements for carrying them to Kosovo. As far as concrete cases are concerned, we inform you that the Arena Sport channels are carried to Kosovo by distribution operators who have valid agreements on retransmitting these channels to Kosovo. While the question of why the Arena Sport has won this right from the IHF to be the broadcaster for Kosovo of the championship, please turn to The IHF as the delivery rights provider” is said to be responding to the KPM for Periscope.
We remember that Kosovo failed to qualify in this championship, as it closed the preliminary cycle with one victory, one draw and four losses./Periscopi/
