Since Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and prime minister Ana Brnabiq have recently sharply criticised Germany's authorities, German diplomats decided to let Serbia know that this is unacceptable to them.
As the Serbian medium teaches, neva, German diplomats have warned Serbia by making it clear that they will no longer tolerate the rhetoric of Serbian officials who constantly criticize and insult Germany.
Diplomats expressed their frustrations, saying that Belgrade's “such behaviour could have very negative consequences for Serbia”.
German representatives warned Vucinqi that he should not speak in that way about a country with which Serbia has extraordinary economic co-operation and has contributed to its large-scale development.
It has been estimated that the rhetoric of Serbian government representatives in the pre-term has not been appropriate and that such performances could affect the two countries' relations.
Although there has been excellent co-operation between Serbia and Germany for years, in part due to good relations between former cancelars, Angela Merkel and the Serbian president, relations deteriorated following the change of government in Germany.
As expected, the coming of Olaf Scholz to power in Germany, but the entry of the Greens into the ruling coalition changed that country's stance towards Serbia.
The circumstances and, above all, all the war in Ukraine contributed to this, which highlighted the need not only for imposing sanctions against the Russian Federation but also for the urgent resolution of the Kosovo issue.
Otherwise, Scholz was in June last year for official visit to the Serbian capital while negotiating Kosovo and the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
