Salaries Law, a mayor receives salary as much as a Kosovo deputy minister

With the new salary law, a mayor will receive the salary of a deputy minister. And this form of wage level for mayors is considered unconventional by the head of the Kosovo Communists Association, Saban Ibrahimi. Ibrahim said it is unfair for the mayor to be classified in [...]
Ibrahimi said it is unfair for the mayor to be classified to the same level as a deputy minister's salary, considering the competencies the mayor has.
We as an association appreciate that the mayors will not be dignifiedly paid for the responsibilities, the competencies they exercise and have. There's no way a mayor can get into the same salary category as a deputy minister. I'm not going to enter into the role, job and commitment of a deputy minister, but I have to point out that it's unfair that the mayor of the municipality will be classed at the same level as a deputy minister's salary, given that the competencies which the mayor has, have been directly elected by the citizen, so there is a much more institutional responsibility than a deputy minister, there are regular meetings and responsibilities to the citizen, and we appreciate that it is unfair that the mayor of the municipality is ranked at the same level with the deputy pay of<> he said.
He added that he hopes in the future this issue will be reviewed by the central level in order to have dignified treatment of mayors.
According to him, the mayors are more engaged and that they do more work than a deputy minister.
“We are hoping that in the near future this will be reviewed by the central level in order to have dignified treatment of mayors with the wage Law. In this case considering that the Government has promoted that for the same job they will receive the same salary, this principle in the case of mayors has been violated. We think the mayors are much more engaged, much more do jobs than a deputy minister without being misunderstood and misinterpreted in the work and assessment of a deputy minister”, he said. /EO
