Through a statement, a spokesman for the U.S. State Department said Russia's “refusal to mediate inspection activities enables the US to exercise important rights according to the treaty, and threatens the sustainability of American-Russian weapons control”.
The UN added that Russia has a clear “path back to implementing inspection activities and that Washington is willing to work with Russia to implement the nuclear weapons treaty.
Talks Between Moscow and Washington Over Returning Inspections, Under New Treaty START, they were supposed to hold last November in Egypt.
But Russia postponed talks, and neither side has so far set for a new date for holding them. /rel
