His announcement comes as Netflix has increased the number of subscribers late last year.
Because of economic difficulties, many people are expected to give up Netflix services.
However, the platform has overturned this trend after seven million new users have been added, sometimes more than analysts have predicted.
“Viti 2022 has been difficult, with a rough start, but bright ending”, the company said through a statement.
Hasting leaves Netflix in a busy market, but with 231 million viewers worldwide.
The company will now be run by Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, both in top executive positions.
