Residents North: There's been this flood for over 40 years.

Ismet Zaimovic from the Bosnian community lives in the northern part of Mitrovica. He is one of many residents of this municipality who were flooded with homes, causing them great damage.

This 83-year-old, he lived all his life near the new Iber River bridge located near the site known as the Doda Rock. But, he said such a situation, caused by rainfall, has not seen in tens of years.

The <x0time> happened two years ago, but it never was. The morning firemen pulled us out of the house. There's a lot of water in there, the floor is up, there's damage, refrigerators, thermal heaters, everything's destroyed”, Zaimovic told Radio Free Europe.

He indicated that he has found temporary accommodations, adding that no one has so far recorded the damage, as it cannot reach the house.

“First, a closet costs 3 thousand euros and is now breaking down, the park, everything has been destroyed”, Zaimovic said, remembering that the last time the situation had been similar had been more than 40 years ago.

“Qych in 1979, when the water entered from the window”, he recalled.

I just retire, I don't know how we're gonna do it. The dam is now launching in [Lux] Wyman, but they had to do it earlier, before this”, he stressed.

The home of Katarina Axanciq, from the Serb community, which lives in the Bosnian Quarter, has been completely flooded. She told Radio Free Europe that on Thursday morning she did not go to work, after noticing that the level on the Iber River, located near her home, was increasing significantly.

The water level was growing and the book began to come out of bed. We hoped it would not be a great flood. It was the greatest danger two years ago, but that water world only reached the yard of”, Katarina showed.
