Rama reacts after charges of connection with former FBI officer arrested: The trial against me in the Big Brother of Politics, the portals

Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted today following charges by the opposition over former FBI senior official Charles McGonigal, who has been arrested after being charged with receiving money from a former Albanian intelligence official and a representative of a Russian oligarch.

The former head of the FBI's counterintelligence in New York is accused of working with a Russian oligarch sanctioned by the US after retirement, and hiding hundreds of thousands of dollars he received from a former employee of an Albanian intelligence agency while he was a senior official in the bureau, CNN reports.

Rama was directly charged by Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, while the leader of the DP Parliamentary Group, Enkeleed Alibeaj, has called for a deepening investigation into the issue.

Rama, meanwhile, has gone on Twitter that arresting the FDI official has nothing to do with it.

Charles McGonigal, considered a security veteran and for 22 years served at the FBI until his retirement in 2018, was arrested Saturday at John F. Kennedy, on his way back from a trip, broadcasts the telegram.
