Putin considers the war in Ukraine a existential battle and accuses the West of being aggressive and arrogant. The Russian leader has said Russia will use all means available to protect itself and its people against any aggressor.
Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Pattrusev is viewed by diplomats as one of the people who have great influence on Putin. He has promised victory in Ukraine, despite the Russian troops facing many obstacles on the battlefield.
