Lancashire police in the U.K. are <x0 heheton” Prime Minister Richi Sunak, after he was filmed not putting a seat belt while he was a passenger in a moving car.

The prime minister has apologised for the incident, saying it was a <x0 trial misspelled” that removed the seat belt to film a video on social networks.

Mr. Sunnak “fully admits that this was a mistake and apologises”, his spokesman told reporters, as he added that Prime Minister “pledged that all should put on the safety belt”.

On the clip, which lasts about a minute, Mr. Sunak can see him turning to the camera, while his car is associated with police motorcycles that appear briefly in the background.

Failure to set a seat belt in England brings a maximum fine of 500 pounds. But there are certain exceptions, such as when a car is used for police services, firefighters and rescue, and for certified medical issues.

Passengers caught by not putting up a seat belt when it's available can be fined in the country with 100 pounds and when the case goes to court, the fine can be raised to 500 pounds.

The government has strengthened the safety belt rules because the latest figures of the Transport Department showed that about 30% of people killed in cars on the road in 2021 had not put it on. /A2/
