Analysing media freedom in Kosovo, HRW singles out the name that Princeton Sadriu, husband of President Vjosa Osmani, had made to the media, calling it “joint criminal enterprise”. The report also mentions Luan Dalipi, chief of Prime Minister Albin Kurti's cabinet for a media boycott.
In February, Princeton Sadriu, the husband of the president of Kosovo and a senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Facebook post labeled journalists and media in Kosovo as “joint criminal enterprise”. In March, Prime Minister Luan Dulip's cabinet chief, in a Facebook post, linked Kosovo's media to “criminal businesses” and called on citizens to boycott them”, the report said.
“Such statements risk undermining public confidence in the media and creating a hostile environment for journalists”, the Human Rights Watch report notes.
In New York's known headquarters report, it also says that 22 cases of attacks, threats and intimidation against journalists were recorded in January-August 2022.
