During the holiday season of the end of the year and for the New Year, Kosovo Police have drafted and implemented the operational command for increasing security measures and police presence in locations or facilities where there are expected to be greater concentration or presence of citizens during celebrations.
Also focused on this operational order has been surveillance and control of road traffic, border management, including international airport.
According to reports accepted by all Regional Police Directors (DRP), the New Year's night change has been largely calm, though several incidents of bodily injury and material damage have been reported in some regions as a result of the careless use of pyrotechnic vehicles and firearms. No cases or fatal incidents were reported, including road accidents.
May this new year (2023) be the year of continuing co-operation and transparency, joy of human freedom and rights indiscriminately where the citizens of the country live and act safely and without worry.
Kosovo police are committed to maintaining public order and security and offering other services to citizens, in accordance with its legal and constitutional mandate.
