Police have arrested surgeon Isuf Zakaj today, sent to the detention for 48 hours.

Kosovo police have also arrested the third surgeon of Vushtrri Hospital, Isuf Zeqaj.

Zekiaj has been arrested today by Kosovo Police, four days after being on the run.

News of his arrest has been confirmed by the prosecution's spokesman in Mitrovica, Valon Preteni.

“At the same time, the same demand has been applied for the appointment of the detention measure to the competent court, the session is expected to be held”, reportedly in Preten's announcement, wrote Schneta newspaper.

Zekiaj is still in office as a member of the USKKUK Board since he has not yet been fired from the government, even though he has been initiated by the Ministry of Health.

Isuf Zakaj along with two colleagues from Vushtrria Hospital, Ekrem Sefiu and Arsim Latifaj, who were arrested Tuesday, allegedly carried out the “bribery work for conducting operations in this hospital.

Sefiu and Latifaj were arrested Tuesday until Zekiaj was on an annual vacation abroad and had not appeared in the police, even though such a request had been made that day.

Sefiu is in house arrest under the Constitutional Court's decision until Latifaj is released in regular procedure.

Their arrest occurred after Gazeta Shneta reporting, which published several video-witnesses of patients who confessed how they gave money to doctors to buy the materials needed for surgery.
