PDK: Kurti government is diving the country into crisis, proposing abolishing re-evaluation for property tax

The Democratic Party of Kosovo has called for abolishing the re-evaluation of property tax and has announced that tomorrow it will propose the ratification of the current law on real estate tax. Department for Finance Co-ordinator at the Parliament for Good Governance in PDK Arben Mustafa said the government of Kosovo's latest action [...]
The Kosovo Government's recent action to expensive property tax bills scatter the lack of consideration for the difficulties Kosovo citizens are facing as a result of the economic crisis.
Kosovo's “government is diving the country from crisis into crisis, while for all crises there is almost the same answer, the distribution of 100 euros already presenting the best policy-making instrument of this government and in no case having managed to address citizens' needs. In the case of property tax, this proposed support even has no legal basis, which creates additional evidence that this government is making foot-to-go policy without realizing the importance of its actions and without a serious plan of what it wants to achieve. This action, as well as other actions, is an attempt to cover successive scandals, and especially the regional corruption scandal of many million Ambassador Martin Berisha/Berishaj”, he added.
The PDK calls for the immediate abolition of property revaluation and application of bills that were in 2022.
“Ending property tax bills at this difficult time for Kosovo citizens is totally unacceptable. Moreover, re-evaluating the property that led to the expensive billing has been made based on methodology and nontransparent criteria for the public and disregarding developments that have taken place in the area and demand of municipalities for more flexibility in property tax rates. Therefore, the Democratic Party of Kosovo requires the immediate abolition of this re-evaluation and application of bills that were in 2022, while during 2023 it is required to work on the new property tax law, which must address the defects of current law”, Mustafa stressed.
While MP Ferat Shala announced that PDK has a proposal to amend the current law on real estate tax, which I will deliver today to the Kosovo Assembly.
“As PDK's GP since tomorrow we will take the legal initiative for the administration of the Law for Taxation in the Palmy Property”, he stressed.
MP Shala said that following the adoption of this amendment, The PDK proposes to open a debate to review in detail this law.
This judicial action would have to include: Tax Norma, with the possibility of lowering the lower tax rate; Design and subzoning according to legislation in power; The criteria and methodology of property assessment are determined by law. All of this must be done after the proposed amendment is adopted that enshrined the tax rate or the tax height as it was before the recent increase of”, he said.
